CAISSON REHABILITATION WORKS ON SPLASH ZONE SECTION OF AGBARA DRILLING & PRODUCTION PLATFORMS AND FLOATING FLARE

Agip Energy and Natural Resources Ltd.
Location: Agbara field, Offshore Brass terminal, 2005

Scope of Work: Retrofit Surface Preparation at sections 4msw to +3msw with hydro blast pressures of up to 14000psi and topside abrasive sand blasting preparation over 800sqm,. to Sa2.5/3.0 standards was used to remove pittings, marine growth, general corrosion and old substrates on the circumferential surface area of section to white metal, SSPC SP 10/12. Polymer Encapsulation of the structural, utility and production caisson members (4msw to +3msw) was done using IPgard EAA 001/EAA 002 epoxy composition green reinforced with plies of interlocking polyethylene mesh. Atlantic Marine’s techniques of installation ensured that the caisson circumferential pressure withstands periodic tidal current and wave loading, taking into account bending moment caused by wave loading in terms of static & fatigue strength, buckling and transverse shear stresses.

Every stage from critical surface preparation to curing was done adhering to offshore caisson rehabilitation procedures and ASME & NACE standards.
